Metoděj Jílek (born 11 June 2006) is a Czech speed skater and inline skater, regarded as the greatest current talent in these disciplines in the Czech Republic. He is considered the successor to Olympic champion Martina Sáblíková. He first made a significant impact on the ice when he won a bronze medal at the Senior World Championships, marking the best men’s result in the history of Czech speed skating.
At the Junior World Championships in the same year, he triumphed in the 5,000 m and the mass start, added a silver medal in the all-round competition, and claimed bronze in the 1,500 m. In inline skating, he became a five-time gold medallist at a single Junior World Championships event in Italy (2024).
The highlight of his career so far came at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, where he won two medals. He first secured silver in the 5,000 m and, five days later, dominated the 10,000 m to celebrate his first Olympic gold medal.
